The Band Parent Committee

Parent involvement is central to the success of the Indy Band and Color Guard Programs! We need all of the parent support that we can get in order to keep the concert bands, the marching band, ensembles, drum line, and guards competitive. We need so many volunteers for service and fundraising activities that there is truly something to interest everyone.

The Independence Band Committee (IBC) is a Standing Committee of the Independence PTSO. We are dedicated to support the students, directors, and the mission of the band program as they strive towards the highest level of curricular and artistic goals in music education and performance.

There are NO dues or annual fees required to be a member. Everyone who has a student in the program is automatically a member. Through the IBC you can support your student throughout his or her time in high school.

The IBC performs many of the administrative and logistical roles of the band program leaving the Directors free to do what they do best – TEACH. To assist the Directors and students, the Indy Band must rely on the IBC to help raise funds, move equipment, coordinate meals, and a whole host of other tasks. A band program must have support from its parents.

The leadership of the IBC is made up of six members. Each members of the leadership team serves a two-year term. IBC meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at 5:30pm.
